Article published on: 09-06-2023

The Government has established an Aged Care Taskforce to advise the Government on funding to ensure the Aged Care system is fair and equitable. The Taskforce will provide recommendations to the Government by December 2023. Interim advice is expected in October 2023. The Taskforce will provide advice on:

  • pricing accommodation costs in residential aged care, including the phasing out of refundable accommodation deposits
  • a fairer approach in assessing the means of older people accessing residential and in-home aged care, including the scope of income and assets included in the assessment of means
  • reviewing service types in the new in-home aged care program, including consumer contributions for in-home aged care, and
  • funding and contribution approaches to support innovation in the delivery of care.
